RN Incentive Program - Rewarding Nurse Excellence

Eligibility (all of the following must be satisfied):

  • Candidate must be hired as a Clinical Nurse II, Clinical Nurse III, or Clinical Nurse IV;
  • Candidate must have 12 months or more of prior full-time RN experience;
  • Employee must work in a regular full-time qualifying Clinical Nurse position (meaning, appointed to work 36hrs+ hour/week)
  • Hire date beginning on/after July 2, 2018
  • Not currently employed or employed within the previous 12 months at any owned or managed entity within the UNC Health Care System
  • Not currently employed as a per diem, traveler or contract staff at any owned or managed entity within UNC Health Care System
  • Not previously a recipient of any of the incentive options listed below from any owned or managed entity within the UNC Health Care System

Commitment and Tuition Loan Assistance Requirements:

  • Employee must remain in good standing throughout the work commitment period. If employee receives a final written warning, resigns, or is terminated, the incentive will be discontinued.
  • Employee must be in active status at the time the installment payment is payable; otherwise, the payment will be cancelled (and not paid on any future date).  Remaining installment payments will be paid if the employee returns to active status, as long as the employee meets all other eligibility requirements.
  • The work commitment must be fulfilled in the department where the employee is initially hired.
  • Commitment Incentive and Tuition Loan Assistance are not offered in combination.  Employees are only eligible to participate in one of those programs.
